What's in the Garden?

Friday, 31 January 2014

It is such a lovely day out, so we off out in to the garden to see what we can find.

With our very own microphone glass (as Buddy calls it) Let's go looking!

Button just found her new toy funny

Love watching Buddy explore.

I wrote a few things to find on a piece of paper.

And Buddy drew a picture of what he found.

Button tried to help too.

We had a lot of fun searching in our garden for lots of different things till we wanted some morning tea. So off we go for something to eat.

Happy Searching!

Thursday, 30 January 2014

Just having a wee chat with Buddy and he wants me to ask him 10 questions. Well here we go, I  hope the answers are more exciting than the questions will be.

1. What is your favourite book?
Buddy: A Flat Tyre (I have no idea what book that is)

2. What is your favourite colour?
Buddy: Purple

3. What do you like to eat for breakfast?
Buddy: Bubbles (I should explain that bubbles are rice crispies here in NZ)

4. What would you like for your birthday?
Buddy: I want angry birds (he's getting angry birds star wars)

5. Who is your best friend?
Buddy: Will from kindy (so cute)

6. What is your favourite song?
Buddy: Incy Wincy Spider (surprised he didn't say incy wincy poo poos)

7. What's the best thing about having a sister?
Buddy:  Dancing like this (he then pulled Button over and danced with her, that's my boy)

8. What is your favourite game?
Buddy: Tennis

Buddy: I don't know (haha sorry dad)

10. What is the best thing Mummy?
Buddy: I wanna do art!
Button: (came and gave me a hug and kiss)

Well that's a lovely wee insight in to the mind of Buddy, must remember to ask these again in a year to see how much has changed.

What do your little ones say when asked 10 questions??

Happy Face!

Buddy's Room: Somewhere to read

Monday, 27 January 2014

This post has been waiting for me to write it, we moved in months ago now and I updated this couch before we moved in. I had seen so many pins on pinterest of others who had attempted to update and old piece of furniture to make it new and modern, for little cost.

Via Our Blue Front Door & Mom 4 Real

One day the Mr was searching through TradeMe (NZ's ebay) and out of nowhere decided to buy an old 2 seater for a $1, so here was my chance and why not! Here's the couch before (the Mr is giving it a quick sand for me)

I need to find the pics of the couch between these stages. I used interior car spray paint, that you can get from any auto store. I went for an electric blue to add a splash of colour to Buddy's light green room.

After painting I masked off the wood and gave it an extra sand for the paint to stick better.

I used a white gloss for the wood, I did have a few accidents along the way but at this cost I wasn't too fussed. I was still really happy how it was looking.

Well here it is, the completed couch in Buddy's room with an added Button. ;) I'm thinking now I should have done another coat of the blue but it still looks great.

It has been the best addition to Buddy's room (apart from his TARDIS, of course) and they both love to sit and read here before bed. Also this will be the only time I'll see it this tidy. Ha!

Set Up Shop

Tuesday, 21 January 2014

For my readers from the rest of world one of our supermarkets New World did a promotion where you got these little shop miniatures. People went nuts for them!!
We never got them all but they were so cute I couldn't resist a little shop of our own. My favourites are the eggs, peanut butter, water bottle and the little butter.
Buddy loves to have his own wee shop, easily made out of an open nappy box. It's a great way for him to learn adding and subtracting when I pay for my little minis.

His writing seems to be coming along great too, I just found that he had written this on his mini shop! I'm so impressed, it's amazing for his age.

Then of course there is Button who just likes to search through them to find the nicest one to eat. Ha!

Simple and lots of fun, Happy Shopping

I Heart Painting

Monday, 20 January 2014

Valentine's day is almost upon us and Buddy wanted to make something special for Button. How cute!!
So we got out a spare canvas I had in my art box, some paint, bit of paper and glitter. Keeping in the theme of valentines I cut out the word love and stuck it on lightly.

Mix it up, pink it is.

Buddy was straight in to the paint with some hand prints, but this just made the letter stick to his hand.

So out came the paint brush.

To finish it off he added some red glitter. I hate glitter, it is exactly like sand, it gets everywhere and you are still finding it days later!

Was pleased a punch to find the heart stayed on to make this cute little masterpiece.

A perfect valentines gift for Button and lots of fun for Buddy!

Happy Crafting, With Love

My First Picture Book

Letting their imagination run wild is my favourite part of our art projects and today Buddy had a lot of fun with his. Just a few folded sheets of paper, some colouring pens and 5 scenes to draw.

Easy! He would tell me what to write as he wanted to draw the pictures in his book all by himself.

His first page, "hmm, what to do" he would say an then after a few minutes of deep thought he shouted "An elephant playing golf, an elephant doesn't play golf mummy"!!

Next two umbrellas in the rain.

Three monkeys in the bath "Can't fit anymore in mum" he said, love his thinking!

Four frogs in the pond.

And finally 5 cars driving down the street, when Buddy stated "Sorry mum, they go down the road"

So much fun and he is now off in his thinking chair (his reading chair in his room) to think of what 6-10 will be. I am looking forward to finding out.
